You Santa Claus, dear of whole children, souree of presentation and
hopes, was born in third centuriy in Patara which was one of the most
important countries of Lykia.
Dear
Santa Claus’s childhood took place in Patara, Santa Claus lost his
parents in his uncle’s hands and he loved him very much in his future
life Santa Claus was a boy who wasn’t naughty, he was friendy with his
friends and was eating his meals in time so he was robust.
This boy Who will instill peace and love to children and whole humanity;
when he entered his school years he completed his education in success
in Xanthos which was known as the central of education in Lykia.
Santa
Claus, after his youth in Xanthos, had gone to Myra where his uncle was
living and working in construction business as a wall foreman.
Myria where Santa Claus was going to spend his live was known as it had
been set up in 500 before Christ, B.C. Myria, as an important harbour
city of Lykia, from point of view was fairly strong as commercial and
military.
People
in this city were beleiving in many Gods and Goddesses same as in the
other cities of Lykia Apollon, Venus, Diana, Artemis and many other
names... Some of these Gods and Goddesses were known as creators of
skies, stars, sun moon and some of them were known as creators of
beautiness, intelligence, pleasure and enjoyment in human bodies Such as
War God Mars and Goddess Venus which were remem bered in love... People
of Lykia, were building a big temple for the Gods and Goddesses which
they were beleiving them, mean while they were exhibiting the statues of
these gods and Goddesses at the most important place of the city where
they were living.
Today
you can meet by chance almost all of those statues same as the first day,
in the Gallery of Gods and Goddesses of the Museum of Antalya.
At the period which Santa Claus came to Myra, it was the last days of
Gods and Goddesses in Lykia. Because, the Christianity which was the one
God religion, was spreading against the persecution of the Empire of
Rome, in the world. An appropriate temple to the new belief, started to
be built over the old temple in Myria Between 280-290 B.S Santa
Claus’s uncle was working at the construction site which was
constructed and today known as “Home of Santa Claus” over the Teple
of Apollon in Myra. Santa Claus was helping his uncle for building this
structure which was took place at the First Period of Christianity. In
tensity of earthquakes and floods disasters occured during this period.
At the result of these natural disasters, “Home of Santa Claus” and
City of Myria was covered by soil in 6-7 meters. However, only “Home
of Santa Claus” leaned against these disasters hundred years. As it
was known that Santa Claus lived in this place, the authorities in the
governments haven’t neglected to restore it continuously. As we lenow,
this place was restored 5-6 times. Today as we examine this building, it
has been seen that, new additions were made to “ Home to Santa Claus”
at every restoration, so in the course of of time remoted from its first
situation. On the contrar, we have to determine that the existence of
this building up to date, is owing to these restorations.
Otherwise, today, this building of “Home to Santa Claus” would be
under the ground in meters and we couldn’t recognze its building
stones same as the lost ancient cities in our world.
Even,
prolongation of Santa
Claus’s life in Myria up to date is the result of his belief in one
God, his love of human and from the source of his benelovent personality.
As a matte of fact, because of his good personality which was
appreciated by the people; had been atracted attention by Diocletian the
Emperor of Rome. During the Empire of Rome, people were still beleiving
Gods and Goddesses. Emperor of Rome was uneasy because of this situation.
Upon this, he had Santa Claus (310 B.C) arrested and put’in dungeon.
Santa Claus helped the other prisoners while he was in dungeon. People
im Myria were very sorry for Santa Claus, because of his prisonment and
they show reaction . This reaction of people in Myria attracted
attention of Grand Constantin Who lived in Istanbul. Upon this, Santa
Claus was set free by the mediation of Emperor, right after. Even other
prisoners in dungeon were set free at the same time. After the freedom
of these prisoners, Santa Claus was accepted as “the Protector of
Prisoners.” Mean while, the Emperor began to love Santa Clausby heart.
Thus, Santa Claus asked help from the Emperor for the people in Myria,
in order to be useful by finishing the poverty and improving the public
work in the city. The Emperor kept his world and helped the people in
Myria to develop their lives, so they begin toturn old days as before in
peace and comfort. The development in Myria was heart by the people in
other cities. Industriousness of Santa Claus set an example to the
cities where there was po verty, so he was remembered as “The
protector of cities” right after this case. Today Santa Claus is known
and remembered as the protector of many cities in Europe, New York and
Moscow.
The days full of difficulties in the lives of people in Myria were
mentioned in the story known as “The
Story of Three Girls” City
of Myria and people lived in those days were fighting against the
natural disasters, wars, diseases and hungreness appropriately.
Once
upon a time, three sisters who were living with their father had lost
their mother. Their father was working at the harbour. His income was
insufficient to meet the needs of his daughters. Furthermore, his
daughters were at their marriage age. Even his eldest daughter’s
marriage ege had surpassed. Their father was very sorry for them. In
those days, young girls should bring a dowry to their new homes when
they get married. Their father was coming home very tired and sad... One
day when the father came home very tired his eldest daughter “My dear
father, I know that you are working day and night and making effort for
our lives; but all of these efforts are insufficient for my marriage,
henceforth no one proposes me. Idon’t want the same things would
happen to my sisters. For that reason, I have a suggestion. I know you
will get angry and be sorry of my suggestion; Please sell me at the
slave market at harbour, and give the money for my elder sister’s
marriage. In this way, can be able to meet the needs of our home and
will help for my other sister’s marriage too.”
Her father was very weary of this conversation. His head dropped and
standed still. His daughter knew that her father was very sad. She
wanted to comfort him but she couldn’t. So she went to her bedroom in
order not to make her father live in anxity any more. Her father got up
at midnight went to the room of his daughters, watched them and returned
his room. He opened his hands to Godworn out and hopeless. He prayed.
“Oh
my God, I wish I wouldn’t hear this talk of my daughter. How can I
sell my daughter at slave market? Please help me. Please save me from
this poverty, please save me so I could be able to help my daughters for
their marriages.” Just that time Santa Claus was passing under the
window and he heard the man’s pray to God. Santa Claus was impressed
so he decided to help at once. He resturned home. He fiilled his gold
pieces in a purse. He went to the father’s house, Left the purse
inside the room from the window and went to his home silently. When the
father got up in the morning he felt something under his foot. He
shivered and got the purse. He was surprised when he saw gold pieces. He
thought that his prays were accepted by Gad. He gave good news to his
daughters immediatel. He called them and toldthem what had happened at
night. His daughters kissed their fathers cheeks and wept becauso of
happiness. So the elder daughter got married.
After a short period, the father lost his job and food. He prayed again
to God and Santa Claus heard this pray of the man too. He broughts a
purse of Gold pieces and throws in the room from window same as before.
Now the father noticed and rushed out. He followed the fellow walking in
the dark. He came near him; this fellow was Santa Claus whom he know
well. He wanted tokiss his hands, so he bo wed in front of Santa Claus
who was very shame, he never wanted that the helps made by him would be
known. Santa Claus tried to persuade this fellow who gratituded him that
he didn’t make these helps. He never permits him to kiss his hands. He
never permits the man to bow in front of him But the father wasn’t
convinced, so he kept this truth till his death-bed.
All of the miracles and helps made by Santa Claus were spread on the
grapevine. The winds of goodness blowed from Myria effect the whole
world Parlicularly Myria which was an important harbour has been loved
by seamen very much. This love of seamen towards Santa Claus has begun
after his travel from Myria to Jerusalem for his pilgrimage. After a
long travel he arrived to Jerusalem. During his return by sea his ship
was caught in a storm. Storm wasn’t calming. People in the ship seized
in panic. They believed that it was the end of their lives. The size of
excitement in the ship was bigger than the waves in the sea. Storm
didn’t calm. There was a silence for a moment and the Captain talked
“ Don’t worry. Santa Claus is with us in this ship he helps as.”
Passengers Were confused at first and they murmured “Who is he, what
kind of power has he?”
One of the passengers “Yes, I know him, he is known in Myria as his
benevolent, he helps every body who is in trouble and he is loved by
every body” said. Passengers found him praying to God later at the
starboard side of the ship in silence.
Passengers calmed down in a moment. Even storm stopped. When the ship
approached to Myria, the captain and passengers believed thet Santa
Claus was the “the protector of seamen.” After this coincides, Santa
Claus was always remembered at stormy seas. In fact, seamen who stopped
at Myra had visited him certainly.
Life in Myria was again very difficult because of famine, so people came
face to face with hunger, Santa Claus asked help for the people in Myria
from a ship loaded with grain. The captain gave some sacksof grain
gladly, upon Santa Claus’s demand. After this, each ship which
anchored at the harbour of Myria helped the people in Myria. So, Seamen,
believed this as a miracle of Santa Claus. They witnessed that the
number of sacks of grain they had given to help the people in Myria
never lessen. This miracle was spread among seamen instantly. One of the
captains who came to Myria, asked Santa Claus ”I am wondering how
could be possible that number of sacks of grain which we have given to
the people in Myria never lessen?”
Santa Claus answered “You are helping this people who are hungry, so
God never unreturned this help and fortunately your sacks of grain never
lessen.” Upon this conversation the captain was wery confused. The
captain hadn’t known the meaning of “blessing, to help one another”
in his life beofore so he was impressed extremely. Later on, sense of
helping one another had taken place in the captain’s life. All of
these events caused love towards Santa Claus and he was remembered
forever.
Apart from these events, Santa Claus had rescued three children who were
going to be cut by their butcher father. As this rumor spread around the
world, Santa Claus was loved especially by children.
Santa
Claus knev that children were in need of help more than elder, he never
stopped to show his interest in children in his life.
Even he had made many favours in his live, Someones pestered him after
his death. Someones came from Bari on May 9, 1087 broke his grave in
pieces, awaken him from his eternal sleep and took him away from the
land where he was born and lived.
After his death, many people visited his home and grave in Myria from
B.C 5 to B.C.9 people who were coming to visit his grave, were filling
small bottles with olive oil leakage where they were pouring in the top
hole of his grave.
Santa Claus’s relics were stolen and brought to Bari, so the people in
Bari were very happy of having the relics in 1087. Relics (the holy
bones) had been put in a chapel there. Pope the second Urban came to
Bari in 1089 to see Santa Claus’s relics. He ordered to build a
cathedral there. In order to place Santa Claus’s relics and relieves
there, installation of cathedral was started immediately and finished in
1105. In 11-12 centry, new additions were made to North and South parts
of Santa Claus’s home in Myria. In 1195, an important part of this
building was covered by alluvium filling after a disaster of earthquake
in Myria. Santa Claus’s home disappeared. Essentially the
disappearence was only his home. Presence of Santa Claus never had
beenforgetten ever after many wars, social variations and natural
disasters in centuries. In the date of December 6 known as Santa
Claus’s daeth day, all of children in western part of the world
entertain and overjoyed. After many centuries this impression on
children, grew up like an avalanche.
First book about Santa Claus, had been written by an unknown person in 9th
century in the language of Latin. The name of the book was “Vita
Bermikayelem.” At the end of 9th century John of Naples, a
religion man had published a book “Vita et Miraculuis Sante Nicoli”
about the life of Santa Claus. In these books, the life of Santa Claus
in Myria and his miracles had been written. Even his exgct birth date
hadn’t been known, it. Was stated as A.C 270 in the book named
“Legend of Saint of Myria” written by Jackomor of Veretza in the 13th
century as an assertion. At the same periods, it had been written in a
book that the miracles of Santa Claus were took place as ornaments,
ikons and his portraits in churches.
Santa Claus’s name became legendary, particularly, with the stories
about children became dense in Netherland spread till to The United
States of America which was set up leyond the Ocean. At spreading his
name around the world Protestants of Nederland who settled in New
Amsterdam (New York) in 17th century had told about Santa
Claus, “Sinter Claus” that he had a kind heart, helped every body
asa magician person. After a period, Englishmen claimed him as “Santa
Claus” During this period, the cloak of Episcopos transformed into fur;
and pointed conical hat into caption. Some people looked like Santa
Claus some time were bing taken ground in order to have the presents
distributd, sometimes caused to mount in carts pulled by hores as used
by Hollander childen to go their houses. Sometimes similar of Santa
Claus wasslided in Northern countries.
Today, name of first churches in many countries dedicated to Santa Claus
(Saint Nicolaus). Thousands of churches were built for the name of Santa
Claus. In 6th century there were 60 churches built for the
name of “Nikolaus” but this number was over 2000 in Germany and
France. As this number was around 800 in England and Greece, it was
unnumerable in Russia. His name wasn’t only giverto churches but also
was preferred as a name for children in many countries since many
centuries. Santa Claus’s appearance was changed in different costumes.
In te course of time, his old costumes hadbeen changed by various
costumes. In a book “knickbocker’s History of New York” written by
Irving in 1809, it had been said that as if Santa Claus smoked a pipe.
Even it had been written that as if he rode on a horse.
In a poem book written by Clement Clark in 1822 “A Visit from Saint
Nicholas” it had been shown Santa Claus in a skate pulled by Rheir
Deer. So type of Santa Claus took shape today slowly.
Santa Claus’s home covered by soil hadbeen forgotten. Here this view
shown us was described in the book “Karabibik” written by Nebizade
Nazým and published in 1890 As it had been expounded by Sarýsimyanoðlu
in this book “Ligor, son of monk of Meis and Andanoðlu were settled
in Myria.” Those fellows
had explored the dome of a place known as “Temple of Apollon” in
Myria. They dug the ground and took out the dome in pieces. Afterwards
they reached another part by some restorations. Unfortunately they
couldn’t continue their excavation work under the ground and the
surrounding area of the building. Actually these two intimate friends
didn’t know this was the home of Santa Claus”
Realities
explained in Nebizade Nazým’s book have been verified in the book
“Description de L’Asia Mineurre” written by Charles Texier the
French traveller in 1849. He had explained everything concerning Myria
and condition of the part underground.
After the Poems written by Clement Clark Moore in 1822 and published by
“Harper’s Illustrated weekly” Santa Claus’s appearance subjected
in these poems had been changed in 1863. This Changing brought a source
of inspiraion of drawings of Santa Clauses which were drawn by Thomas
Nast in 1881 for the of “Harper’s Illustrated Weekly” A Long white
beard, smiling plump cheeks, fat belly, white fur at the sides of his
red costume and his bag filled with presents for children have completed
the shope of the costume of Santa Claus.
Santa
Claus’s home is known by very few people still. This building
accracted Russia’s attention at firstand Czar I. Nikola made monetary
aid for restoration of this building for political reasons in 1853.
August Salzmann a French man has been charged to make restoration af
this building in 1862. This restoration has been completed in 1876. In
same year Czar II. Nikola of Russia had presented one bell and a marble
plaque on which an article written in Slavic. This article known as
Church Slavic is on cover of a marble tomb at the north-east side of the
building. In this article written: “A person as a symbol of belief and graciousness, a master of giving
up food of the world, God created you as a leader pioneering to people.
God is seed of all truths. So, you as a person Who gave up all of food
and bread of the world have reached God. You have reached richness with
your poverty. Great Father Santa Claus, Please beg God forus to rescue
our souls...” Agroup
of persons, in the chairmanship of Salzenberg who was an arthitect from
the Architectural Institute of Russia realized studies and restoration
of the building between 1878-1903. The roof cover and gallery of the
building had restorated in this period. After the restoration, it was
said that it hadn’t been restorated as its origin. In fact, when
evaluated that the building revealed after many centuries the
restoration had been completed successfully.
During this period, at the place where Santa Claus lived, the designs
designated by Thomas Nast for the magazin of Harper’s Illustrated
Weekly in 1881, had been a source for the desing today. By and By,
designation of Santa Claus developed thoroughly. Thomas Nast as he
designed a character of Santa Claus just fits the character known today;
also he developed a myth in which there was bad tempered negro as an
assistant of Santa Claus According to this myth, Santa Claus lived in
Northpole, he was preparing presents in his atelier for naughty and
docile children listed before. Yet a logic mistake had been made. Living
of Santa Claus in Northpole, distributing of presents to children by
sledge pulled by deers was impossible. Because, Rhein deers couldn’t
graze in Northpole. For that reason, Markus Rautio known as “Uncle
Markus” made a talk at Finland Broadcasting In 1925. It has been said
that Santa Claus lived, as if, in Lapland region of Finland.
Sometimes in Europe, Santa Claus leaded to”Vodan” mythological God
of Norway. Image of Santa Claus and image of Vodan had been united
especially in the countries of Northern Europe. Even two personalities
outcame together, a person Whose name was Kara Piyer (Negro-Slave) took
Santa Claus’s service as an assistant. This assistant was punishing
naughty children While Santa Claus was distributing the presents to
docile children. This attitude approved by some churches for guiting
children which wasn’t accepted by Santa Claus, because he is a dear
person for all children. Unfortately this image has been fore gette by
churches at that time Actually, the person Who punished children was
negro so this was effective to give such a decision by churches. In fact,
the person Who punishes was negro, so this reminded racialism. After
this incident, Santa Claus assistant never seen again. In this period,
the number of sladges pull by reindeers of Santa Claus had been eight.
1939 the number of sledges pulled by reindeers increased to 9 by the
company of Montgomery Wart as Santa Claus might move guier.
After all these variations, a new duty has given to Santa Claus with his
name and pecularities in the world of advertisement. Studies were
started by Haddon Sundlow a Sweden designer in 1924. In 1931 Santa Claus
has been seen in his flying sledge in a beverage advirtesement. This
beverage company achieved its aim. On the other hand Santa Claus’s
reputation increased in a very short time. He is an advertisment star at
all. Children love him same as their feeling still and this feeling
never changed.
Even real home of Santa Claus and his soul walked around it wasn’t
taken into consideration, the houses in Northern Europe were in terested
by children. Children sent letters in thousands to this place to make
reques to from Santa Claus whom they love very much. Particularly in
last centuries, consequently by intensive interest and love of children,
the countries would ask people to become integrated their usage and
custom together with Santa Claus.
In Turkey a sa source of place where Santa Claus lived, a series of
activities fit to its identity under the name “Call Activities For
World Peace With Santa Claus” are being made since 1993. At the frame
of these activities an a ward under th name of “Santa Claus Peace
Award” is being given every year, “Santa Claus Peace Award” is
being given in the first week of December every year since 1995; this
award is being given to one person, a foundation or a community who is a
model to world peace, in order to revive good manner, peace and
virtousness, in order to remind the love to words Santa Claus. One year
later (1996) a foundation has been set uo. So Santa Claus becomed as a
foundation in his country slowly. Never a distinction is being made in
these activities. People; are being invited to these activities without
any reactions towards them
who have different belief, ideas and countries. These special activities
in which human and love of humen is in the most important place, are
very important because these activities are being made in this place
where Santa Claus lived. Up to date, 73 countries, 13 different
religious communities participated these activities.
Children from all around the world attended to activities made in the
name Santa Claus first in 1998. Even they love Santa Claus, as children
of the world haven’t too much information about the place where Santa
Claus lived and dead. Furthermore they never knew the place where Santa
Claus kept up his life. For this reason the foundation of Santa Claus a
dopted the idea to call and collect children of world together in these
activities. Correspon dance with countries being invited start
beforehand in months. Number of countries specify to attend these
activities increases day by day. The guests from Venezuela as a farthest
country west side of Turkey and from New Zealand as a farthest country
east side of Turkey make us happier. Our excitement rises with
approaching of activity day. Our guests arrive to Turkey meet by Santa
Claus. Children believe that they would enjoy very much during these
activities. Historical opening of the activities of Santa Claus has been
made in covered park set up in a big space to entertain the children.
For memory of Santa Claus activities, a torch of peace was burnt, white
pidgeons were flied to sky. Songs were sunged, poems were read and
danced together hand in hand. At the some time these activities were
taken under protection of Presidency of Turkish Goverment. Upon this,
Children were led to Ankara and Mr. Süleyman DEMÝREL President of
Turkey was visited there. President saluted the children and he elimbed
up the pulpit in reception room in order to make a speech addressing the
children. A nice surprise was waiting for President. Before his speech a
Santa Claus costume would be given him as a present. It is wondered,
would he wear this costum of Santa Claus? Just that moment a great
guitness became. President put on the costum of Santa Claus without
hesitate and sound of applause of children and flashes of cameras of
journalists in the reception-room spoiled the quietness, cameras lights
bursted. This was a historical moment. Activities made for the name of
Santa Claus on the land where he lived and dead were accep ted just
after 1700 years at most level. Aftera long period of taking pictures
confusion, President DEMÝREL began his speech with the costume of Santa
Claus on him. In his speech he said “I,
as a President of Republic of Turkey am very happy to have opportunity
to see children of world here in Çankya Bulding (Palace Köþk). I
would like to say that children don’t belong only to their families
but also they are the children who belong to society and all humanity.
That is why, you are the children of world humanity. In all countries,
governments, politicians strave to do their best for a better world for
children to live peace, because peace means prosperity for people in the
world. Santa Claus is a sembol of peace and prosperity for children of
all humanity.” Following this speech President had his pictures
taken with children. President gave presents to children and they gave
presents to President mutually. Our last visit was to mauseloum of Atatürk,
after Çankaya Köþk. This Mauseeloum is eternal repose place of Atatürk
founder of Republic of Turkey. This place shouldbe visited; because be
making such activities for the name of Santa Claus in Turkey, be wearing
the costume of Santa Claus by President with tolerance understanding and
determination for modernizing of Turkey of Turkey and to be a legal
Goverment; all of the se hoppened by owing to Atatürk. The same day
after visiting the moseleum in Ankara, returned to Antalya after a Weary
travel. So it was the first time that all of the children of world came
to Turkey in order to visit the region where Santa Claus was born and
lived there. We belive that
this is a very special place where Santa Claus was born, lived and his
grave found here, for activities to be realized. Children were speakers
at the syposium made same year. Topic of the sposium was.
“Expectations of Littles From Olders.” After these speeches,
children reminded many topics to olders who forgot the world where they
live. In this symposium: We don’t want any wipon among our toys, keep
children from murder and remember that you olders don’t forget you
were children at one time. These words were enough for olders... We were
considering that these hot days never ended at all. After this
consideration we have made an appoitment to come together with the topic
of activity “Human Love in the Path of Peace”, for 2002 activities.
Al the same year Foundation of Santa Claus has sent a letter to
Honourable Mariane A. Magrassi, Spritual Chiep of Bari on August 13,
1998, to stop the historical fault and shame concerning the stealing of
Santa Claus’s relics and awaking him from his eternal sleep.
Unfortunately any noteworthy explanation hadn’t been sent from Bari.
Following years, Foundation of Santa
Claus presented this subject to the attention of public opinion
occasionally. All of the countries showed interest in this tragedy
happened hundred years ago. But these interests were insufficient;
because Santa Claus is longing the place where he would spleep in peace,
even in our time.
While activities for the name of Santa Claus be coming traditional, at
the end of 2000, pass of time was adequate even we thought to come
together with the children again. It was impossible to feel enormous
love in tiny hearts of the children. This enthusiasm atthese activities
was increasing day by day. Further more activities for 2000 had been
programmed just for one month. Longest olympic games were lasting
fifteen days. One year, yes just one year we could cometogether with
world wide children and various activities would be realized. We
determined this.
We shouldn’t never loose
ourreassurance and hope. We had important benefits in our hands fairly,
we were proud of these and we were pleased. The activities made for the
name of Santa Claus have taken a place in brains of an important and
majority of people. This has been stated completely in Honorable
president Süleyman DEMÝREL’s message: “I’m
pursuiting gladly the Activities of Invitation of Foundation of Santa
Claus to World Peace. All of Humanity preparing itself for a better
world in Hundreds of years. The main need of humanity is peace for a
Hundred year. Turkey supports every contributon will be made for peace.
Everybody should do his best for spreadin, settling in the World Peace
Culture and try to make world in peace atmosphere totally. Consequently
I’m congragulating Foundation of Santa Claus for efforts made for
universal peace. I wish success for the Call Activities For World Peace
With Santa Claus. I say welcome to our guests came to our country for
these activities and I convey my greetings and love to every body joined
this ceremony.”
For
the activities Children started to come to Antalya on Nov, 30, 2000 in
groups. Longing has been finished and first week of activities programme
which would last one month has been started for four weeks. Children who
came from different countries united from the firsday. They made shows
in Antalya, Kemer, demre and at Aspendos a historical Theatre. Firt week,
when it was the day of Children’s departing anunforgetable panaroma
happened. This panaroma had been ereated by the students from Süleyman
Nazif Elemantary Scholl and by. Musicians playing drums and pipes sent
by Governorsip of Diyarbakýr as a representativa of Turkey and
throughout one week children danced together hand in hand. While
children were waiting near buses to go to Diyarbakýr, children who came
from Polland and Russia were among the others to say goodby. First of
all we couldn’t understand: children began to weep when they said good
bye to each other. Children wished not to say good bye on the contrary
they were hugging each as though they were never separating from one
another. We have watched them with our wetted eyes. Drumplayer played
his drum un willingly to soothe the children and noise of drum was
different. Children weren’t wishing to dance ony more. We have
witnessed two or thee timesmore these emotianal farwells of children who
joined these activities. They have found more impressive way to
understand each other even they didn’t talk the same language: this
was love. As a matter of fact our subject of the activity was “Love of
Humanity”

These

activities made for the name of Santa Claus. Children from participant
countrie made various shows four times in the Aspendos Theatre, 7 times
in demre, fourtimes in Antalya, five in Kemer and one in Finike. An
exhibition was opened in Turkey first time for the name of Santa Claus.
This exibition was visited throughout one month and 300 different works
exhibited concerning the subject of Santa Claus. First statue of Saint
Nicolain the world had been opened in Demre On December 6,200. On
December 31, 2000 We were in front of clock as we promised, which shows
how muctime remains to 21st Centruy placed in the garden of
Santa Claus’s home We danced, made folklore dance hand in hand and
sang songs. We said Hello with wishes to be model to our world and to
live the same beauties as shown with these activities realized between
01-31st December 2000 under the name of “Call Activities
For World Peace With Santa Claus”
This
hello children of world is the first time Because this is the first time
that a new year was welcomed in front of Santa Claus’s home with
suchan activity, with him. Suppose that this activity would gladden
Santa Claus because it was a thousand and end of century, a new thousand
year and beginning of a new century.
Now
we believe that Santa Claus is a aperson among us in reality. Let’s go
back to 1897 in order to
learn Santa Claus. Virginia O’Hanlon had sent a letter to New York Sun
newspaper, while she was eight years old. In thisletter:
- “My
friends are asking me wether Santa exits or not. My father says that
“if it is said ‘Yes’ in Sun newspaper, it is true”. Please
tellme the truth, is Santa Claus exit?”
Virginia’s
letter which ends with her begging answered by Francis P.Church the
editor of New York Sun newspaper:
- “Yes
Virginia, Santa Claus exits really. He exists as existent of love,
generosity and sacrifice. As these exist there is also beautiness and
joy exist. Think a little bit if Santa Claus wasn’t how would be our
world awful? Just like awful as Virginias never exist. Then there
wouldn’t be any childish believes, poems and romanticism tokeep alive
this existence. We couldn’t had any joy other than to see and hear.
The eternal light given to the world by children would go out forevere”.
Yes,
we agree with Francis P.Church with all my hearts and we wish days full
of peace and happiness for humanity and especially for children who live
and keep alive this light.
Yes, we agree with Francis P. Church and we wish peaceful and happy days
for the humanity and the children of the world who have lived and are
still trying to keep alive that love and light with St. Nicholas in the
past, with Santa Claus today.
